Honors Program

Graduates of accredited high schools who have achieved at least a 3.5 grade-point-average in a college preparatory curriculum have an exciting and challenging opportunity available to them at Allegany College of Maryland. The Honors Program is a selective admission educational set of offerings which include special honors sections of specific courses and honors seminars. All honors courses are limited to fifteen students. The Honors Program is not a separate curriculum; the student may major in any Allegany College of Maryland one-year or two-year program.

Allegany County high school students accepted into the Honors Program will also be automatically eligible to receive an Academic Achievement Scholarship which provides a one-half in-county tuition scholarship for up to four semesters of full time attendance at Allegany College. In addition, Honors Program students will have all course fees and instructional fees waived.

Students in the honors program must maintain at least a 3.25 overall GPA and earn either an "A" or a "B" in each honors course/seminar taken.

All Honors Program students will have one-half the tuition for all Honors courses paid by the Allegany College of Maryland Foundation.

Please contact Dr. David Stickler, Coordinator of the Honors Program, for additional information and application process.
